A German Enigma machine

                       ULTRA INTERCEPTS

The fact that the British were able to decipher codes produced by the German
Enigma machine was one of the most closely guarded secrets of WW II.

ULTRA was the name used by the British for intelligence resulting from decrypts
of German communications in World War II.

Below are four ULTRA intercepts of communications between U-boats and
U-boat Command concerning the sinking of the Jacksonville  (courtesy of
  Dr. Theron Snell).

"Matuschka" (Kapitänleutnant Graf von Hartmut Matuschka) is the
commander of U-482, the U-boat that sank the Jacksonville
.
